Why she does this work
Lisa Nedzlek spent ten years at the Law Offices of Charles J. Schneider in Livonia before joining this firm, carrying cases from the first filing through to discharge. Most of that work was the part of bankruptcy that does not appear in a brochure: motions, responses, plan modifications and briefs, and arguing the matters that do not resolve on paper.
Two of her cases are published. In In re Bajas she acted for the debtors in an adversary proceeding in the Eastern District of Michigan. In State of Michigan v. Wilson she represented debtors on appeal in the U.S. District Court, against the State of Michigan. Appeals are uncommon in consumer bankruptcy, and most filers will never need one — but the reason to have someone who has argued them is that the cases which go wrong are the ones that turn on an argument rather than a form.
She has spoken at several seminars for other bankruptcy attorneys, most recently on the Model Chapter 13 Plan, and has taken pro bono cases throughout her career.
Lisa earned her law degree at Wayne State University Law School after an undergraduate degree at Michigan State. She represents people in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 cases and is admitted before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.
