Why she does this work
Mary Beth Wimberley grew up in California and chose Michigan. She came here for law school, took her degree cum laude from WMU Cooley in 2017, and has practised nothing but consumer bankruptcy since July 2018.
Her first degree was in human communications. That turns out to matter more than it sounds: most of this job is explaining a frightening process to someone who has never been near a courtroom, in language they can act on, often on the worst week of their year. The firm publishes its fees on this website for the same reason.
Her cases are Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 for individuals and families across Michigan. Two of them are reported — In re Peek and In re Schlicht, both in the Eastern District of Michigan — and she is admitted in both the Eastern and Western Districts, so where in the state a client lives does not limit what she can file.
